An introduction to OUFC

Foil, epee and sabre training are all on offer, with a high quality of fencing and coaching across all three weapons. We also benefit from several non-OU members fencing at the club.

“Fencing is a game of living chess, a match where reflexes only work in combination with intent, and mind and body must work together at every moment.”

V. E. Schwab, Author

The Varsity Match

The highlight of the season for the squad is the annual Varsity match against Cambridge. The club has four teams (two Men’s and two Women’s) that compete in regular BUCS competitions and have a highly successful track record. Fencers also compete individually in domestic and international competitions.

Socials

There is a very active social side to OUFC. Highlights of the year include Freshers’ Drinks, Christmas Dinner, the Old Blues’ Dinner, (pirate) punting, a summer BBQ and many informal pub trips in-between, often post-training. Check out our calendar page for the latest.
